Before I start off with the installation procedures, I would like to thank Mark Hayden of the UK for the inspiration and support.

You can visit his website at: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/9506

The installation took me personally around 6 hours to complete, due to the fact that I had to pretty much think how to do it for myself, excluding a few pointers from Mark.  With these procedures though, it should take around 3 hours.  I installed the Euro style taillights on my 1998 GT and I would venture to say that it will be the same for all 94+ Mustangs, possibly even the 1999 Mustang if you want to install the Cobra style taillights.  The color of the wires might be different, but since they were the same for Mark's 97 Cobra I would venture to say that the wire colors will be the same for all 94+ Mustangs.  If they are different, the general idea should still be the same.   I haven't had any problems with the way I did the install, so if you would like to give your Mustang a nice new look for the people who are trying to catch up with you in a race, please continue on......

Required Parts:

  1. 1 set of export taillight assemblies($400.00 from Kar Kraft Engineering).

  2. 4 additional bulb assemblies and single bulb elements (should be included if ordered from Kar Kraft Engineering).

  3. Bud connectors and various sizes of twist connectors which you can by at Radio Shack.

  4. Additional wire (I used 18 gauge)

Note:  Kar Kraft is the only place I could find that normally stocks these export lenses.  They are expensive, but that is the going price from Ford.   You can reach Kar Kraft Engineering @734-422-8510 or you can e-mail them: sn95pro@aol.com

Required Tools:

1.  11mm Deep Socket
2.  Socket Wrench
3.  Wire Cutters
4.  Crimping Tool
5.  Screwdrivers (Torx, Phillips, Regular)

Procedures:

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any undue damage or failure.

2.  Remove the lining from the inside of the trunk.  You will then see 4 nuts and bolts that hold the taillight assembly in place.  Use the 11mm deep socket wrench to loosen and remove the nuts.   Then, carefully pull out the assembly, but not to far or you will pull on the taillight wires.  You might have to pull with a bit of force to loosen the the taillight assembly, but don't be afraid.

3.  Next, twist off the 4 taillight bulb assemblies.   Repeat steps two and three for the other side's taillights.

4.  Change the taillight bezels from the new Euro taillight with your original bezels.  The reason for doing this is because the Euro bezels come unpainted.   You change the bezels by removing the three Philips screws on the bottom of the taillight and unclipping the three clips on the top.   Then just swap the bezels with the correct side (note: I am planning on getting my extra unpainted bezels painted flat black like the saleen bezels.  I will post pictures ASAP, I bet it will look real good with the Euro lights.)
