I would take one of these over an OEM part, unless its NOS. 40 years of sun and use is bound to leave fiberglass in a pretty shotty and brittle condition.

Try this place - http://critesperformanceparts.com/ - & look for the Eliminator Style Hood Scoop. These Scoops are a perfect fit for our Mark VII's. The lines of the Hood match the lines of this Scoop exactly. It looks like these Cougar Scoops were made for our Hoods.
Charles is a great guy & has been doing fiberglass stuff for years. He's had his '64 Ford Fairlane "Thunderbolt" on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine before. His business started years ago by creating a reliable Motor Mount for the BOSS 429's. One thing led to another & now he makes all kinds of fiberglass Bumpers, Hoods, Fenders & much more for the Galaxies, Fairlanes, Cougars, Mustangs etc. from the 60's.
This guy is top-notch & his products are second to none. He used to put on the "Super Ford Nationals" Labor Day Weekends at National Trails Raceway (Columbus, Ohio) for years. A few years back he "sold" the Show to the NMRA (I think it's called) & now about all that shows up is "newer/everybody’s got one" Mustangs. It used to be all Old School stuff such as Dick Estevez & his "Daddy Warbuck's" '65 Falcon & more Galaxies, Cougars, Comets, Cyclones & Torinos than you could shake a stick at!
There was a huge swap meet & plenty of vendors catering to us Blue Oval guys. All Fords, all weekend running down the 1/4 mile...good times.
When I see Charles & we talk about those weekends at the track, he still regrets letting "The Show" go.
If you call, tell them Mater w/the Lincoln Mark VII’s sent you.
Hope this helps!
