I have an 89 Mark VII that i put a rebuilt trans in about 5000 miles ago, well it suddenly quit moving. Now i cant even start it in park only neutral and if i put in any gear it instantly kills the engine. Any ideas on what went wrong?

Sounds like trouble, if i remember correctly when you put the trans in park it puts it into reverse and drive at the same time. sounds like the trans is stuck in a gear. I have heard stories of transmissions getting so hot while driving down the highway, they weld themselves into gear. They drive fine till you try to stop at the offramp.

Please keep in mind, i know next to nothing about automatic transmissions.

direct clutch fried, warped, stuck in direct drive - or planet blown up...90% first answer.
First thing is check the TV cable that it is hooked up, and adjusted.
And call the builder.

I bet the TV had too much or not enough on adjustment. Or converter is broke. Just my opinion. I'm on my 5th AOD. And stop down shifting on the interstate! LoL
