It will also give you a chance to fix the roof seam on the C pillar. Made a world of difference fixing that on my grey car; I may have to pull the new one apart to fix it, too.

Since I'm on call this weekend, I'm going to focus on getting the front air dam mounted up. That's the plan.

The weekend didn't pan out as I planned, but I did get my brackets bent for the front air dam mounts I'm using 1/4 flat stock and I'm going to attach the mounts to the dam itself by bonding it with epoxy. I'm not interested in drilling holes and I believe that by bonding the whole length, it will provide a good secure mount.. the mounts will be getting attached to some of the underframe.

Today I did some measurements and double checked the fitment for the air dam... I used PC7 epoxy to mount the metal strap to the lower dam .

Posted Image

And then mounted my blind mounting stud to the upper part of the air dam near the front of the bumper with PC7 epoxy.

Posted Image

24 hours of cure time, then back to mounting up the dam.
I've had some real good results with PC7 epoxy in the past and it works well with non similar materials being attached, in this case fiberglass and steel.

OK, Ive been a major slacker on this since the cold hit.. If I had a heater in my garage I'm sure I'd be getting more done, BUT I don't have that luxury. Any way, Thought I'd post up my lack of progress . Although I havent actually worked on the car, I've been gathering "Stuff" for its completion. Its Jan 18th today and I can see that with my commitments for Feb, the chance of updating any real work on the ride is looking slim. My best guess is that I'll be hitting it real hard after the 21 of Jan, since my winter vacation trips will be over.

Happy Easter !! BTW,, I have the drive again to dive into the project.. Today I measured the top lip of the air dam for the J-channel, and came up with a depth of the cut...
Posted Image

I have the metal J-Channel flush with the top of the dam when I cut it.
Posted Image

If gives a nice natural finish and should look good once its finished.
Posted Image
I have the left side cut and did some preliminary measurments for the mounting of the dam.. So far everything is lining up as planned, I'm really taking my time on the mountiing of the fiberglass parts, due to the fact that there is no going back once you made a cut.
Posted Image

I'm very happy with how its all coming together. Once I get this front dam mounted, then its on to the top door panel

Project for Fri and Sat. To mount the J-Channel for the air dam. I'm going to primer etch and paint the back of the j-channel before mounting with rivits. I'll have to see how the interface of the wheel moulding and this J-channel converge. Then decide my plan of attack.

Fun project, no doubt... I just wish I could spend more time on it, but , that is not happening. BUT, I do manage , and each bit, adds up.

The MK is going to be sweet when she is done.

Passenger side, cutting the j-channel so it wraps around and ends flush with the bumper
Posted Image

Trimming out the wheel well where the J-channel, fiberglass and wheel trim intersect.
Posted Image

I'm liking the fit and pretty comfortable with how it fits, I left just alittle extra on the wheel well trim to do some final adjustments
Posted Image

Did some extra sanding up front again, and then decided to pull out one of my re-done wheels and see how she looks. I've got to say, with the all back body these are going to POP. Nice.

More work tomorrow..
