I recently installed an aluminum driveshaft from a police interceptor packeged crown vic. The shaft cost $60 and the local driveline specialist charged me $40 after cutting and welding it to length. The P71 equiped vic's had an "aluminum metal matrix composite driveshaft for the 1993–2005 Police Interceptors as a measure to allow safe operation at over 150 mph (241 km/h), but it was more expensive than the regular aluminum driveshafts"
The additional advantages over the extra strength of the shaft is th 12lb weight difference and the loss of the spicer joint. These will come with ford factory heavy duty yokes and u-joints.
You wont find a better driveshaft for four times the price.
These costs me $100 each, im not looking to make any money on these. Im just wanting to stimulate some more work and posts to the boards. Your price is $100+shipping. Packaging will be around 60" x 6" x 6" and weigh under 20lbs.

Plenty of interest in the driveshafts. To anwer a couple of questions.
1. I believe the yokes are the same so you can use the one on your mark or use the one that comes on the p71 shaft. The P71 uses a larger dia. U-Joint so to use your mark yoke you will need to buy a different u-joint. The joints on the P71 are suposed to me "maintance free" and "heavy duty" units that should not need replaced unless damaged, but if there is any obvious damage I wouldnt have bought the shaft in the first place.
2. The butt flange will need to be changed out. The P71 comes with a wide flange, the bolt holes are aprox 1/8" too wide to bolt up to the M7 rear end. For $38 the local driveline guys sold me one to fit the larger dia. u-joints.
3. I have a total of $138 into my driveshaft, I suspect you will too before shipping.
4. The boxes containing the shafts will be aprox. 60" x 6" x 6" and weigh 16lbs. They will be shipped from zip code 67037.

That is some great work you are doing!
If anyone is wondering, the 4r70w yoke won't fit into the AOD due to a larger output bushing on the 4r70w. But the AOD yoke can be used with this driveshaft by using a 1310/1330 conversion U-Joint (this is a shelf item at any parts store I have ever requested it from). The same conversion U-Joint could be used for the rear-end, but I would rather use the larger 1330 U-Joint by the method Oil_Injected stated.
Again, fantastic work.

Thanks for confirming what I was kinda thinking was the case. I can get these cut down, welded and boxed up for $100. At that point the only thing left is to swap the butt flange ($40) and put your AOD yoke on the driveshaft via the conversion u-joint ($25). At this point a guy has $165 into the shaft and I'd bet after you add in the shipping a guy has little more than $200 into the project.
I do have 1 AOD yoke that I can install onto the shaft and I will swap out the Buttflange also so that atleast 1 of them is bolt in ready. That one will go out the door for about $175.

got it todY LOOKS BETTER THAN PICS.
YES P71, with a few other additions, I was going to use the guy in Stockton but he had to source the shaft, I tabled the idea until I saw Oil injected doing some, I would rather pay to a member here than outside if I can. You we be broke around here, yes.

Looks like the Crown Vic P71 shaft I had cut and balanced for my VII. Some place in Stockton did it for me, did a nice job.
