I'm finding that at 63 yrs of age, and with the project finished, the fire in the belly has been kinda flickering.
I've done what I set out to do and then some, so I think it may be time to send the car down the road.
Mecum is based in Marengo, IL. ~ 25 mi. NW of me, and the Volo museum (who do appraisals for $150.) ~ 10 mi. away.
The guy who owns Volo was a boyhood friend of one of the engineers I worked with for years, so I might get a break there.
The thing is, I've never seen a VII come across the auction block - ever.
Has ANYONE seen one @ auction? I'm not so intersted in what it may have sold for, just whether anybody saw one at all.

Since I have started Driving the Mark VIII I have been comparing it to my Mark VII SE. While This VIII has a larger interior, newer, faster, I Still feel safer driving my Mark VII. Perhaps that is because the Mark VII was a Lincoln Design made into the T-Bird vs. the Linconized T-Bird designs prior and post Mark VII.

A '90 Dk. Cabernet sold for $6250 @ Des Moines last July.
An '89 White was bid to $6250 @ Indy this May, but didn't sell.
A '92 Black SE sold for $3250 - basically book value - also @ Indy in May.
They have a date in Sept. near home so I may consign the car and see what happens.

Id be interested to hear the commentary of the auction. I wonder what kind of facts they would come up with.

The seller pays a fee - $500 on a sale of up to $7500 - 7% on higher sales. I don't know what the buyers end is.
I'm sure that there was not enough "special" about the 3 sold in the last year to put them on TV, and I have no idea whether mine would be unique enough to make the show.
One of the guys on there is picky to the point of distraction, and there are sure things on the car to pick over.

I need to change the clutch quadrant (get rid of the self adjusting 'stang unit - which doesn't self adjust anymore),
figure out how the billet AL firewall adjuster is supposed to work - NONE of the "speed shops" around here seem to know.
Buff it out, clean it up, make it purty and sell it.

Still have to decide 1 way or the other, but after spending Tuesday night thru yesterday afternoon in the hospital with a weird infection, I think I know which way to go.

Alas, she knows me all too well. We (just 2 of us) had 5 cars, so a grandson got 1, and today I sold my '89 Blass, but lo and behold I saw a '70 MK III in the paper, and am going to look @ it tomorrow.
She said "I knew you were going to do that. It's OK. You got rid of two, you can get 1 more".
Just addicted to grease under my fingernails I guess.

It was kind of a chore to drive with the stk. clutch quadrant in there, so I put in a double hook FMS billet part, got the firewall adjuster figured out, set it, and what a difference!! Not only is the engagement predictable, but pedal pressure is ~ 40% lighter.
