My car has the same problem following the SN95 swap. Im suspecting a bad alignment. i see one of my caster/camber plates is clocked at about a 5 o'clock position and the other is also pointing to 5 o'clock. Im pretty sure they should be point opposite directions. The car drives like its got two left feet.

I went to replace the tie rod and it was too good to be causing the problem. But I did find a couple of end link bushings that needed replacing. The toe checked OK. But in playing the driveway shuffle I got the Mark VIII out and have been driving it the past week. (I'm working close to home) I thought I would see what the extra Mark VIII ten spokes would look like on the VII but they don't fit. While the tires look good they are not worth the pricing of remounting in my book. So the VII is still on skins. The last guy that aligned me screwed me with a positive (out at top) camber vs the 0.5' negative I asked for. I got too busy to notice the bad wear and did my own camber alignment. I use a level and compare to the rear wheels for camber. It will get you close.

I moved mine out of the way so I could get my truck out of the garage. Guess I will drive the Lincoln to work on Friday, so it doesn't get neglected.

Mine will sit for weeks and start. Drive it a few days and it will drain the battery. :wtf:

Put the VIII on ramps and pulled the Motor mount. It was toast. Ordered a new pair and got them back on last night. But now I've got to change out the oil filter adapter gasket and hope that fixes the oil leak that got worst with 5W 20 new oil.

So I've been back in the VII this week. All was good till I got back in her after driving another car 50 miles. She seemed to drive rough but that was over a ragged sedtion of road. Maybe I need to lower the tire pressure back to 30 psi. But when I hit the open highway all was good.

I felt bad for letting the car set for over a month, so I threw the charger on it and took it for a drive around town. The little drive quickly turned into a smokeshow. I stumbled onto an area of backroad where the local kids use as their burnout alley. I remember that as a kid and remembered how cool it was to show up to smoke some tires and find a patch left by a set of huge mickey thompson slicks or a set that went farther than any highschool kid could have dreamed of leaving behind.

So I felt obligated to leave my mark. I felt like John Force, it had been years since I have fried a pair of tires like that. It sure renewed my love for my car, that is for sure.

Stupid I know, but it IS what i did for/to my lincoln today.

When you do, do yourself a favor and replace it with a 3G. I picked up one from the scrapyard for $35. The only thing needed was acouple of wires, eyelets, butt-connectors and a $6 fuse. 12.4v at idle and will pull up to 14.5v when heavily loaded.

Pulled it out of the garage to put the winter driver in for an oil change. Left it out side to get up to operating temp. Then backed across the street into the neighbor's driveway to get a good run up into my garage. Even though it's only a 5% grade into my garage, these cars really suck in the snow :teehee:

I put on the T-Bird front sway bar a few weeks ago, today the rear sway bar will be finished up. I just need to make some custom end link rods, the one I have are too short!

This will be the most stable '87 Bill Blass around I expect. Now the chase down the mystery battery drain.
