It's early here in SOCAL but before the day's out the (blue) car will be emptied out and cleaned before it goes to the transmission shop tomorrow. The direct clutch in the 4R70W has failed leaving only 1st and 2nd. I can tell you it was exciting bringing it home Thursday on the freeway (accelerate to 65 and coast down to 50, repeat, repeat, etc.). The rebuild is going to be bulletproof.

Better now than on the way to or during Big Bend.

HAH, I remember doing that once too. My shifter linkage broke on my old ford ranger. I had to limp it home while stuck in 2nd gear. I sure made a lot of people mad that day with my 15-40mph dashes.

Just today? I sand blasted and primed the body structure plates (convertible Mustang ones) I had removed last fall.
Yesterday I pulled the M7 out of the garage and cleaned it (the garage) while the car idled for about an hour. Then I took it for a drive down to the lake and back with my son, about 10 min.
Saturday I got nothing accomplished

Still waiting for a good heavy rain to clean the salt and sand off the roads before I pull the car out  ...still waiting.

I shoveled a 3' high by 6' deep, plowed up snow bank so I could get the queen out of hibernation. Brought the battery out to the barn, slapped it in and it started immediately... this means it had to have held fuel pressure for months! This was back towards the end of March but i have been enjoying her, took her for a ride today in record-shattering heat (old record, 70 degrees...today, 82) with the sunroof open and the windows down. good times :)

Dont know how to respond to that...should I :slap: you or  at you?

As for my car, I left it under the cover in the garage, we just received hopefully our last snow of the year. I said that last time it snowed tho
And due to the 1*C/33*F temps outside I brought my console into the house to glue the carpet to the side to match the new carpet on the floor!

Well, I have been busy...almost too busy to visit here!
The passenger fender got massaged by a Chev Malibu, so I repaired that. Biggest issue was what to do about wheel opening trim. I had to use the rear opening trim off of my parts car as the front one was toast. With a few new holes drilled in the trim, the front and rear wheel opening trim is identical :P
Also put a new wheelskins leather wrap on my steering wheel and put some leather wrap on the inside pull handle to match. Prolly have it out next week or the week after, I need a new windshield installed.

Im away from home for a while now. Talkin to my wife the other day, she told me we had tennisball sized hail a couple of weeks ago and that my car cover has been shredded by my dogs and had blown over the fence and long away long ago. When asked if the car had any hail damage she replied that she didnt think to check. She has to be kidding me right?

My biggest fears is that the car looks like a golfball now and has 2 inches of standing water in it from the leaky sunroof. I'll have to wait another 6 weeks before i can assess any damage.

Your looking for the 3.85" stroker crank that im going to run. I am going to go with the SCAT 9000series crank. I have heard many good things about them. SCAT rates them to 500hp but you'll find many people making up to 700hp for years with them. They are cast but about as good of a cast crank as your going to find exspecially for the $300 pricetag. Heck my local machine shop will charge me $150 to turn and polish the factory 351 crank i have in the block. They said they would give me $50 for the stocker, so im putting that towards the SCAT crank.

Try and get you some "truck" 351w rods. They are alittle bit stronger since the have more meat at the big end. Also everyone i have talked to and every article i have read says that the rod bolts are the weakest link in the setup, everyone recomends APR bolts. But by the time you get $80 bolts, $50 reconditioning cost at machine shop and $20 install of bolts you are more than half way to a set of stronger and lighter rods. Im going to go with some H-beam rods, just havent settled on a brand yet.

For pistons im running factory '87-'91 5.0ho slugs. Im cutting the valve reliefs deeper to aid in a wild cam setup and also drop alittle bit of compression. Expect around 9.4:1 with stock pistons and a 60cc head. Im leaving room for a turbo or blower so i'd like to keep it down around 8.5:1. But i would go with a 10:1 if i wasnt.

Also i have read that a 351 or 393 stroker as it would be now with that crank, loves large exhaust primarys. muscle mustang did a test on a budget 351 and found 9hp in 1 3/4 headers over 1 5/8. And another 10hp and 19ft/lb going to a long tube. total i think from the small tube shorties to the large tube longs they picked up 19hp and 39ftlb. The motor was a budget minded Procomp headed, mid 9:1 motor with a street cam and a holley intake and carb. i wanna say it put down 420/450 at the crank.

On my 256,000 mile, 1988 Mark VII LSC: Over the past few "weekends" my Son and I replaced the 155,000 mile KYB GR2 struts and shocks w/ new GR2's and Motorcraft rear shocks.

Replaced 256,000 mile F. Ball Joints and Control Arm Bushings and rear upper Trailing Arm Bushings. (lower arms have approx. 100K on them) Installed F "Performance Friction Metalic" brake pads, turned rotors, packed F. Bearings, Rebuilt F calipers, installed new front and rear center Brake Hoses. (Accumulator new a few months ago). Power Bleed brake system.

Replaced inner Tie Rod Ends and installed new urthane F anti sway bar link kits. I had Les Schwab do a "Trust Alignment.(They are EXCELLENT, nice work, twice I took cars in for alignment and they told me THEY was in spec, NO CHARGE!)

Baked the air suspension Dryer, resealed front air spring SOLENOIDS.

Changed Trans Fluid and filter, torqued valve body. Replaced diff fluid.

The Lincoln drives, steers, handles and stops like new! Front seat, "Duplicate of OE " leather installed a few year ago. Soon..........new paint!
