Well it is almost time to work on the Lincoln again and finally get started on my build. Here is what I have: an 86 LSC with a SEFI 351 & T56 and a well worn body, runs great. I also have an 87 LSC with a Cobra 302 and C4. The 87 has not been driven since 1999, or even started or moved since 2003, but other than shot paint and bad fuel is in OK shape. My plan is to blend the 2 cars together to make one nice car out of the 87. Oh, and I will be adding an 04 Cobra IRS too.

The 351/T56 is already in a M7, I am just going to swap into my other car since it is in better shape. Pics will be coming as soon as I start on it.

I got my car home and will be getting ready to start on it very soon. The plan is to drive it to the SSHS11 next November.
Here's a starter pic.

Yeah, you had the only Mark-7, and for that matter the only FOX chassie I can remember seeing.

You don't have a fuel tank you could part with do you? Or anybody else for that matter.

I would rather a stock one. I don't think I would need a sump. Even after I add a Vortech I shouldn't need a sump should I?

Only five hard parts...that's pretty simple. I like the way they incorporated the idler into the blower assembly.

The only need for a sump is when running minimum amount of fuel (at the track)
hard acceleration will cause a fuel loss. Pickup is not in the rear of the tank
but kind of mid-range. If you are running adequate fuel capacity the sump is really
not needed.

Keep in mind running a supercharged car without adequate fuel
can cause damage to lots of good stuff in the engine.

I decided to go the fuel cell route and redo the fuel system from tank
to rails. This really is something you have to evaluate based on your
horsepower expectations.

For Christmas 2010 I got the parts to get my 04 Cobra IRS beefed up, then in March I actully opened the boxes an put them on the IRS axle. I now have the LPW cover, Maximum Motorsports subframe bushings, and FTB solid aluminum diff mounts.

Last Saturday I got the 87 car in the shop and got the comlpete rear suspension and fuel tank removed. I now have the IRS sitting on the ground under the rear of the car.
It might be a while before I atempt bolting it in, It is just SO hot! Temps have been over 100, and it is well hotter than that in the shed. The only reason I got done what I did was we had a day of heavy cloud cover (when I moved the car into the shop), followed by hours and hours of light rain. The only time fit to work on the car is when the weather gives me a break like it did that day.

It will fit!
I got the IRS under the car and the front 2 bolts in. Someone else that had done a swap said all the upper control arm mounts and pinion snubber area had to be cut out, Not true. The subframe does come into contact with the snubber area, but not enough to hurt anything. If anything this will help things be more ridged. The fuel lines are fine where they are, but the brake line did have to be moved, and the right fuel tank mount did take a small bit of massaging.

Now the next big step is getting the rear mounts fitted and welded in.

sweet! This is going to be a cool project.

Something I might think about WHEN the rear bags go out. I was planning on welding in upper spring mounts anyways and running a coil or coil over but IRS would be cooler.

Not alot to update on, But I did get a nice new toy to help me along on this project, a 220 MIG welder. Now I can weld the rear IRS brackets in.
