You're right, I appoligize....I am super glad you guys got it done.
Did the balls fit tight? I had planned on this setup at first and tack welding the balljoint in place for safety ......................and hey, don't tell me you didn't stare at the first page a time or two before the swap happened. It took me several months to get it all in line.

The ball joints used were FMS #M-3050-S Extended Ball Joint Set and with the custom fabricated sleeves they fit in perfect as perfect can be. Uncle Quazimoto showed me the diagrams complete with measurements before he machined the sleeves and I still have a hard time believing that there are numbers that long and complex.

The conversion made use of a stock rack in addtion to Moog ES2150RL outer tie rod ends. I belive that the outer tie rod ends and the longer ball joints were chosen due to our Maximum Motorsports caster camber plates and a desire to change the front end geometry and effect the spring rate on the front air bags. Uncle Quazimoto has his car back up to the standard ride hight setting, however, the car sits the same as mine on the lowest setting. The skinny here is that there is no need for any sort of aluminum collar on your air bags anymore. The ride with the stiffer Bilsteins is supple but holds the road beatifully.

In all honesty, I don't know exactly where Uncle Quazimoto pulled all of his information from. He has a giant brain and a long Hot Rod history in addition to a scary knowledge of metalurgy, physics, machining and a whole bunch of other things that I don't understand at all. The cost break down that I quoted in my previous post was not written for the tech board at all. It was Uncle Quazimoto trying to educate me on the complexities of some of the conversions that I have been performing with the help of him and Bryan. He is really, really, really smart and creative, however, like most highly creative people, he is also a little reclusive and doesn't feel like explaining himself twice.

Hopefully, Uncle Quazimoto will put out the fires that are taking up all of his time at the moment and come visit this thread to give you some real information. Until then, I will share what I can.

Murderously Yours,

MACHVII

Please tell Uncle Q. that there are several of us who appreciate his efforts. Any and all info shared will be highly appreciated.

I also want to get on the list for a set, if ever more are made.

Maybe you could foward the email with the specs? That is, if he is willing to let them go public.

I've always felt that if we could use a drop spindle or the extended ball joints which drop the wheel but put the airspring on the "higher" notch it would be a great ride. I have not had the means to explore this. I'm glad to hear it works in practice as well as theory.

Drop spindles might be tough...as you only have so much wheel room to fit the droping of the control arm.....NOT TOO MENTION that if you use the tall balls like mentioned - you MUST have 13" brakes cause if not the control arm tip would contact the ID of the rotor.

By what margin is the tip of the control arm contacting the brake rotor? Is it possible at all to make it work with the original rotors?

There is about 1/2" before the tip contacts the rotor and the brake sheild...cutting the tip off might net you more room for that swap, but you would want to reinforce the arm afterwords cause you are jeprodizing the safety factor.

Not worth it IMHO, just go 13" brakes...the benifits of the swap outweigh and jiggering of your factory shit.

Report late, but better than never.

The MACHVII was converted over to SN95 spindles and 13" cross drilled and slotted rotor with twin piston calipers in the middle of February.

She handled like a Beast during the stunt driving I did in Las Vegas in February.

Uncle Quazimoto's car was the perfect test subject and I am proud to have followed in his footsteps (with his guidance).

To anyone who has the parts sitting around in their garage, get off your ass and get it done.

No slam intended.

Just a gentle nudge that you will really, really dig it.

I had driven Uncle Q's car but was not prepared for exactly how kick ass The MACHVII would be on the road. Once we install the panhard bar, my suspension is complete.

Now I just have to make the time to do the panhard bar.

Damn, I have a pile of parts in MY garage, too!

Now that your car is done I think it might be time to update your info in the bottom of your sig.!!!

Also, as you have now completed this work first hand with Uncle Q's guidance would you care to list specifically what items you used.
The information at the begining of the thread is super useful but it does give us differnet possible directions in which to go. All of them OK mind you but a full list of actual components used would be more than appreciated.

I just bought a set of SN95 spindles from a 1995 stang, hubs, dust shield rotors , brake lines, calipers and pads all in excellent shape. I know/think the brake lines won't work, the calipers are single piston, can I do dual pistons without any change to the abs system. I know I should read the search but I just wanted to ask..

this is a sticky in the lincoln tech forum

as for the sigle piston caliper on the 94-95 stang....throw it away and get some 1998+ PBR calipers or just upgrade completely to the COBRA.

The PBR calipers you need to grind a small amount of material on the spindle.....easy easy, you will see when you mount them.

For brake lines you can see in my darkvii thread I called up sn95brakes.com and got SS lines with the correct fittings as a bolt in. You can use adapters if you wish to use the calipers you have.

good luck.
